✦ Award Programmes
Restaurant Awards by Sector
Every great table tells a different story. Explore the full family of International Restaurant Awards programmes — each one shaped around a distinct discipline of hospitality, from the precision of fine dining to the craft of a neighbourhood café.
✦ One Standard, Many Disciplines
A Programme for Every Kind of Restaurant
Hospitality is not a single craft but a constellation of them. The discipline that earns a quiet fine dining room its reverence is not the same discipline that fills a beloved café at seven on a Tuesday morning, and neither resembles the operational artistry behind a sustainable kitchen turning whole-animal butchery and root-to-shoot cookery into something diners queue for. The International Restaurant Awards were built to honour each of these crafts on its own terms.
Rather than forcing every restaurant into one undifferentiated contest, we run dedicated sector programmes. Each carries its own judging lens, its own benchmarks and its own panel of specialists who understand what excellence looks like inside that particular world. A steakhouse is assessed by people who understand ageing, sourcing and the language of fire; a Japanese restaurant by judges fluent in the rhythm of omakase and the integrity of provenance. The result is recognition that genuinely means something, because it is awarded by people who know the difference.
The programmes below are grouped into six families. Choose the one that fits your restaurant, your kitchen or your leadership — or browse the full landscape on the restaurant sectors overview. To see the headline trophies that sit above every sector, visit the award categories page.

Not Sure Which Programme Fits?
Most restaurants belong naturally to one primary programme — the sector that best describes how guests experience them. A coastal restaurant celebrated for its catch belongs in the Seafood Restaurant Awards; a tasting-menu destination in the Fine Dining Awards. Where a restaurant straddles more than one world, you are welcome to enter the programmes that genuinely reflect your strengths, and our advisory team is happy to guide you.
Chefs and operators may also be nominated through our People & Leadership programmes alongside their restaurant's entry — recognition of the individual and the establishment are assessed independently. For a fuller view of the structure, see the restaurant sectors overview or the headline trophies on the award categories page.
✦ Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
There is no fixed limit, but we encourage restaurants to enter the programmes that truly reflect their identity rather than every available category. A focused entry — your primary sector plus any specialist or cuisine programme where you genuinely excel — almost always presents your strengths more clearly to the judges than a scattered one.
Yes. Every programme shares the same rigour, integrity and independence, but each is assessed through a lens suited to its discipline. A café is judged on the things that make a café exceptional, a steakhouse on mastery of fire and ageing — so the standard is uniform even as the criteria are tailored to the sector.
Absolutely. Our People & Leadership programmes, including the Executive Chef Awards and Restaurant Leadership Awards, recognise individuals on their own merit. A chef can be celebrated even where the restaurant is entered in a separate sector programme, as the two are judged independently.
