Steakhouse Awards

Honouring the steakhouses and grill restaurants that turn fire, time and exceptional cuts into one of dining's most memorable rituals.

The Art of the Grill

Where Fire, Patience and the Perfect Cut Meet

Few dining experiences carry the theatre of a great steakhouse. The hiss of a marbled ribeye meeting cast iron, the dry-ageing room glimpsed behind glass, the confident swing of a knife through a chargrilled fillet — these are the rituals that turn a meal into an occasion. The Steakhouse Awards exist to celebrate the restaurants that have mastered this craft, where the discipline of sourcing, the precision of the grill and the warmth of genuine hospitality come together on a single plate.

A truly exceptional steakhouse is far more than its protein. It is a study in restraint and generosity at once: the integrity to honour a great cut with little more than salt, heat and time, and the imagination to surround it with sides, sauces and cellar selections that elevate without distraction. From the wood-fired parrillas of South America to the dry-aged temples of the great cities, from neighbourhood grill houses to the rarefied chophouses of luxury hotels, this is a sector defined by obsession over sourcing, ageing and flame.

This recognition matters because steakhouse dining sits at the intersection of provenance and pleasure. Guests increasingly want to know the breed, the pasture, the ageing and the carbon footprint behind their plate — and the finest grill restaurants answer with transparency and care. The Steakhouse Awards shine a light on those who lead, giving diners a trusted signal and giving outstanding teams the acclaim their craft deserves. 🥩

Questions Answered

Steakhouse Awards FAQ

What types of restaurants qualify for the Steakhouse Awards? +
Any restaurant whose identity centres on premium cuts and fire-led cookery may enter, including classic chophouses, open-fire grills, parrilla and asado houses, hotel and resort steakhouses, butcher-led venues and contemporary grill concepts. If beef, the grill and the ageing of meat sit at the heart of your offering, you are eligible.
Does the breed or sourcing of beef affect judging? +
Provenance and sourcing are assessed under our Cuisine & Cookery pillar, but there is no single “correct” breed or origin. Judges look for integrity, transparency and a clear philosophy — whether that means renowned international breeds, local pasture-raised herds or a regenerative supply chain — and reward how well sourcing is honoured on the plate.
Can a newly opened steakhouse compete fairly? +
Yes. Our Best New Steakhouse and Rising Star Grill honours are designed specifically for venues and talent at an early stage, judged on the standard achieved and the promise shown rather than on years of operation. Newer restaurants are also welcome to enter the broader categories.
Is dry-ageing a requirement to win? +
No. Dry-ageing is celebrated through our dedicated Excellence in Dry-Ageing honour, but many outstanding grill restaurants build their reputation on fresh cuts, live-fire technique or regional traditions. Judges assess mastery within your chosen approach rather than insisting on a single method.
How do I submit a nomination? +
Simply complete the online nomination form, where you can tell us about your concept, sourcing, menu and the experience you create. You may nominate your own steakhouse or put forward one you admire. Our panel then reviews each entry against the six judging criteria.
